Dehradun: Just a couple of months after the infighting within Punjab Congress that resulted in Captain Amarinder Singh's resignation, Congress again seems to be heading for a turbulence, this time in Uttarakhand where elections are due in early 2022. On Wednesday, the party’s campaign chief and former chief minister of Uttarakhand Harish Rawat hinted at dissatisfaction with the organisation and even retirement from politics.
In a series of tweets and Facebook posts from his official Twitter account, Rawat said “power” has “left several crocodiles” in the “ocean of elections”, representatives of those on whose orders he is swimming are tying his hands, and that “it is time to rest”.
However, he refused to further elaborate in the matter while addressing media. Sources to Newsmax say Rawat was pointing out at the Uttarakhand PCC in-charge Devendra Yadav and Central leadership.
Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) officials and Rawat supporters have also criticised Yadav for what they describe as undue interference in the state leadership’s functioning.
Rawat’s posts have clearly raised fingers at the Congress central leadership. He is unhappy with the way things are moving in the party.
"You reap what you sow! All the best for your future endeavours (if there are any) @harishrawatcmuk ji," tweeted former Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh taking a dig at Rawat's tweets. Rawat was Punjab affairs in-charge when Captain stepped down in September.
"First Assam, then Punjab, now Uttarakhand." “Bhog poora hi paun gaye. Kasar na rahe jawe koi,” tweeted Manish Tewari, Congress MP and National Spokesperson.
