Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., made an "unambiguous threat" against Supreme Court Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh when he said they would "pay the price" for court decisions against abortion, and should be disciplined, Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, said Thursday.
"Whether it's a threat of political retribution, or something even worse, that's not clear, but whatever it is it's judicial intimidation," Cruz told Fox News' "Fox & Friends." "It's not right. It is unacceptable, and I think Chuck Schumer should apologize."
Censure is being debated, Cruz said, but meanwhile, "Senate Democrats are right now, they are so angry that they're willing to try to get what they want through threats and through really naked intimidation."
He also slammed a Schumer spokesperson for "trying to dig" him "out of the hole he dug for himself" when he said Schumer was aiming his criticisms at Senate Republicans.
"He was talking to those two justices, threatening them quite directly," Cruz said. "'You will reap the whirlwind, you will pay the price.'
"It is unacceptable and I think Chuck Schumer should apologize," Cruz added.
Schumer crossed the line.
"Chuck Schumer wants the Supreme Court to uphold unlimited abortion on demand in every circumstance with no limitations whatsoever," Cruz said. "Both of those are extreme positions, but where Senate Democrats are right now, they are so angry that they're willing to try to get what they want through threats and through really naked intimidation."
