New Delhi: Just a week ahead of Republic Day, Delhi is on high alert after recovery of IED from the crowded Ghazipur flower market. Although a major terror attack was foiled but Delhi police and NIA are yet make a breakthrough in the failed attack.
Sources to Newsmax said that the IED recovered in Delhi was similar to the one recovered from Punjab recently which was smuggled into the state from Pakistan.
The bag containing IED wrapped with tape was planted by a sleeper cell. The explosives that were recovered weighed around 3 kilograms, contained both RDX and ammonium nitrate and had the potential to cause a high-intensity blast. It is expected that such bombs have reached poll-bound states through a network of sleeper cells in the country.
Senior officials of the NIA met in Delhi on Monday. A senior Delhi Police official said that Pakistan's ISI is behind it. In recent times, more than 40 drone activities have been spotted from Pakistan.
The NSG conducted a controlled explosion of the recovered IED in a ditch, saving several lives that could have been snuffed out if the bomb had not been found and defused on time.
