Mumbai: The Maharashtra goverpnment on Thursday suspended its DGP rank officer and former Mumbai and Thane Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh and disciplinary action launched against him for various lapses in duty.
The 1988 batch IPS officer was declared a 'proclaimed offender' by a Mumbai court in November followed by a report submitted by Additional Secretary Debashish Chrakravarti.
Orders have reportedly been sent to the Maharashtra’s Director General of Police (DGP) to suspend Param Bir Singh and another DCP rank officer.
Among other things, the report had recommended action against Singh for defying the All India Civil Service Rules, sudden "unauthorised absence from duty" after which he became "untraceable" for nearly six months before resurfacing a week ago (last Thursday) in Mumbai.
Another officer, DCP Parag Manere, has also been suspended along with Parambir Singh. Manere was also accused in a criminal case.
