Mumbai: In a scathing attack on Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, MNS supremo Raj Thackeray has written a letter regarding loudspeakers in mosques and arrest of MNS workers. Raj Thackeray has slammed the MVA government for police action against MNS workers. He has also issued an ultimatum for the use of loudspeakers.
Slamming the state government for action against MNS workers, Raj Thackeray has added that his party cadre were detained even before MNS started its agitation which was scheduled for May 4. Further, he has also claimed that at least 28 thousand MNS workers across Maharashtra were slapped with police notices while thousands were jailed.
"My party workers were detained even before the agitation started. Over 28 thousand MNS workers were served notices from the police while thousands were jailed. The MVA Government did all this since they wanted loudspeakers to be used. These loudspeakers cause noise pollution," said Raj Thackeray
"My question to the state government is: Have they ever acted against mosques which hide weapons and terrorists? The police is after our party workers including Sandeep Deshpande and others as if they are terrorists from Pakistan," added Raj Thackeray in his letter.
The Maharashtra police are looking for leaders of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena as if they are Pakistani terrorists or 'Razakars' under the erstwhile Nizam rule. “It makes me ponder whether the same high-handedness was shown by the police to find out terrorists or arms hidden in mosques,” the letter read.
“I have only one thing to tell the state government. Do not test our patience. No one has come with the ('tamrapat') copper plate of power. Even you have not, Uddhav Thackeray,” Raj stated. On Raj Thackeray's ultimatum, the state government had said that the Union government should come out with a policy on the use of the public address system.
Maintaining a defiant position over playing Hanuman Chalisa, Raj Thackeray on May 4 asserted that his party will continue with the protests till all sound systems atop mosques are silenced.
