Ahmedabad: In a huge blow to the Gujarat Congress, its working president Hardik Patel has resigned from the party. Just months before the assembly elections, this has come as a major setback for the party.
Hardik was upset with the infighting within the party and had complained several times to the party's central leadership.
Announcing his resignation on Twitter, he wrote, "I am gathering the courage to resign from the Congress party and post. I am sure my decision will be welcomed by my colleagues and the people of Gujarat. I believe that with this step, I will be able to work really positively for Gujarat in future."
Sources to Newsmax have confirmed that the leader is likely to join Bhartiya Janata Party before the elections.
He had joined Congress in 2019.
