As almost all of the also-rans have officially called it a day with their Democratic primary campaigns – even with self-funded billionaire Mike Bloomberg cutting his losses – Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., remains a holdout.

And, now, Warren's surrogates and aides are looking for an off-ramp with Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., carrying the flag for the progressive left against centrist Joe Biden and his team full of ex-candidates as endorsers.

"She has not made any decisions as of this point," Sanders told reporters Wednesday. "It is important for all of us, certainly me, who has known Elizabeth Warren for many, many years, to respect the time and the space she needs to make a decision."

"She has run a strong campaign," he added. "She will make her own decision in her own time."

Warren and Sanders backers are trying to get the pair to coalesce with an endorsement and their voting base, multiple sources told The Washington Post.

Sources say Warren would like to stay in the race through the next Democratic presidential primary debate March 15, per the report.

Warren's campaign manager Roger Lau responded to the pressure on her to withdraw from the race, with or without her endorsement for Sanders, who she famously engaged in a spat after a debate this winter where they called each other a liar over whether Sanders told Warren a woman could not win the nomination.

"Last night, we fell well short of viability goals and projections, and we are disappointed in the results," Lau's note to staffers read, per the Post. "We are going to announce shortly that Elizabeth is talking to the team to assess the path forward."

Thus far, Warren has earned just 28 of the 1,338 delegates, with still-to-come returns ticking that total up some.

"The race has been extremely volatile in recent weeks and days with front-runners changing at a pretty rapid pace," Lau wrote in the email, per the post.

But the stinging defeats in her home state of Massachusetts and Oklahoma, where she was born, signal a death knell for her chances.

Sanders-backer Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., tweeted:

"Imagine if the progressives consolidated last night like the moderates consolidated, who would have won?

"That's what we should be analyzing. I feel confident a united progressive movement would have allowed for us to #BuildTogether and win MN and other states we narrowly lost."

President Donald Trump chimed in on Warren holding Sanders' campaign back, tweeting:

"Wow! If Elizabeth Warren wasn’t in the race, Bernie Sanders would have EASILY won Massachusetts, Minnesota and Texas, not to mention various other states. Our modern day Pocahontas won’t go down in history as a winner, but she may very well go down as the all time great SPOILER!"

Trump had tweeted Tuesday night:

"So selfish for Elizabeth Warren to stay in the race. She has Zero chance of even coming close to winning, but hurts Bernie badly. So much for their wonderful liberal friendship. Will he ever speak to her again? She cost him Massachusetts (and came in third), he shouldn't!"
