Coronavirus Models Presented to WH on Wednesday, One 'Promising,' Two 'More Concerning'

Thursday, 12 March 2020

The White House received a presentation on Wednesday demonstrating three models predicting the course of the coronavirus outbreak, one of which was “more promising,” and two were “more concerning,” prompting the president’s speech later that night.

“I was told by two senior administration officials that the administration, the White House, was presented with three different models on how this virus could go,” Newsmax TV’s White House correspondent Emerald Robinson told “American Agenda” on Thursday.

“One is more promising in that it’s like an S-curve like we saw in South Korea, where it began to taper off a bit… based off the measures they’ve taken. The other two models are a bit more concerning,” Robinson said, adding that the administration is looking to see if the early response measures “were enough to mitigate the case spread, so you see more of that S-curve and not the other two models that are more concerning.”

The Trump administration also is concerned about “the rate of infection,” and reports that the virus “can be airborne for up to three hours and how quickly it spreads, and that's why you saw the president's decisive action last night, enacting a thirty-day travel ban from Europe, a very extreme measure according to some, but what the administration says they want to do to see how this goes over the next couple weeks.”

Robinson said that “other measures the president is looking at taking, on a personal note, is that he’s looking to possibly cancel more campaign events, like a rally in Tampa Bay.”

The Trump administration also announced that “it will provide aid to Iran,” and “U. S. intelligence shows that more people are affected in Iran than that country is letting on. Also North Korea, the U.S. feels, may be the hardest hit country.”

Domestically, “the president's looking at possibly signing an emergency declaration as soon as today.”
