The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria has released a set of “religious directives” for terrorists to follow to avoid spreading the coronavirus, The Daily Mail reports.
The list, which was recently released in the group’s newspaper al-Naba, advises ISIS members to “stay away from sick people… wash your hands before eating,” and “avoid travel to affected areas.”
It also tells followers to “put your faith in God and seek refuge in him,” and that “illnesses do not strike by themselves but by the command and decree of God.”
Although ISIS has lost much of its territory in the Middle East, it still controls parts of Iraq and Syria. Iraq has reported 79 cases of coronavirus so far, with eight deaths, which the Daily Mail claims indicates a higher number of infections than reported.
Syria has reported no cases of coronavirus so far. The Middle Eastern country hardest hit by the virus has been Iran, which has thousands of cases of coronavirus and hundreds of deaths.
