News Delhi: In a major development, miles-long convoy of Russian Armed forces can be seen 25 kilometers outside Kyiv. Sources to Newsmax say Russian forces could launch a full scale attack on Kyiv tonight. High-level peace talk between Russia and Ukraine has failed to bring ceasefire.
Indian embassy has asked all Indian citizens to immediately leave Kyiv by any means.
"All Indian nationals including students are advised to leave Kyiv urgently today. Preferably by available trains or through any other means available," tweets Indian embassy in Ukraine.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a high-level meet has asked Indian Air Force to rush special carrier aircrafts to expedite evacuation of Indians stuck there. Around 14000 Indians, mainly students are still stuck in the war-torn country. IAF has rushed C-17 carrier plane to the neighbouring countries.
The IAF C-17 aircraft can carry 336 passengers and was used in evacuation in Afghanistan. Leveraging the capabilities of the IAF will ensure that more people can be evacuated in the shortest possible time.
India has been carrying out the evacuation process under Operation Ganga on a war-footing. The government has sent four union ministers to coordinate and expedite the evacuation process from the borders surrounding Ukraine. Hardeep Singh Puri, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Kiren Rijiju and General VK Singh are at the borders monitoring the entire operation.
