Majority See Normalcy Restoring Post-lockdown but with Precautions

New Delhi: The latest IANS C-Voter Economic Battery Wave survey has shown that majority of the respondents believe that normalcy will be restored after the lockdown is lifted.

However, they will still follow precautionary measures to mitigate the risk of the Covid-19 infection.

As per the survey, 55.6 per cent of the respondents across categories said that normalcy will come back once the lockdown is removed.

These responses were to a question on whether or not the respondents "think life will come back to normal once lockdown is removed."

As many as 44.4 per cent of the respondents were either unsure or felt that it will take some months for things to normalise.

Across various groups based on age, gender, income, education and location, among others, 25.2 per cent of the respondents said that everything will normalise once the lockdown is lifted, while 30.4 per cent said the same thing but added that precautions will have to be taken by them.

A total of 36.6 per cent said it will take a few more months for life to normalise even after the lockdown is lifted, whereas 7.9 per cent were unsure.

In urban areas, 51.8 per cent of respondents were optimistic about normalcy returning with precautions, while 48.2 per cent were unsure or did not agree.

Notably, majority of semi-urban and rural respondents believed that normalcy will return with precautions once the lockdown is lifted.

As per the data, 56.1 per cent of the respondents from semi-urban areas and 56.5 per cent from urban centers opted for this option.

Meanwhile, majority of the respondents gave a negative reply when asked if anyone in their family or surroundings got infected with Covid-19.

As many as 91.1 per cent of the respondents across categories replied that none in their family or surroundings got infected, while only 8.9 per cent said that there have been cases.

According to the data, 84.7 per cent of the respondents from urban settings, 88.2 per cent from semi-urban areas and 94.7 per cent from rural areas said that none in their family or surroundings got infected with the dreaded virus.
