Fifty-eight percent of Florida voters say they support stricter gun laws in the state, according to a new Quinnipiac University poll.
Thirty-eight percent of the state’s voters say they oppose any stricter laws on firearms.
The Florida poll results, released Thursday, break down like this:
- 59% support a ban on the sale of assault weapons in the state, compared to 36% who are against it.
- 55% say if more people carried guns Florida would be less safe, compared to 35% who say the state would be safer.
- 57% oppose allowing teachers and school officials to carry guns on school grounds, compared to 39% who support it.
- 76% approve raising the state’s $8.46 minimum wage, while 20% oppose it.
- 55% approve of the job Ron DeSantis is doing as governor, compared to 22% who disapprove.
- 41% approve of the job Rick Scott is doing as senator, compared to 44% who disapprove.
- 45% approve of the way Marco Rubio is handling his job as senator, compared to 41% who disapprove.
The poll, conducted June 12-17, surveyed 1,279 Florida voters. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.3 percentage points.
