A New Zealand man with a confirmed coronavirus infection reportedly attended a packed rock concert at the Spark Arena in Auckland on Feb. 28 – potentially exposing thousands to the fast-spreading virus.

The stadium, which was hosting the rock band Tool, has a 12,000-person capacity and was packed for two days during concert dates in New Zealand’s largest city, Reuters reported.

Health authorities on Friday said the man in his 30s is the partner of a woman also confirmed to have COVID-19 earlier this week, Reuters reported.

"He was in the general admission standing area in the front left-hand quadrant," health officials told the BBC, adding the risk of catching the virus was low, but advising audience members to be aware of the symptoms.

The man, who had recently arrived back in the country from northern Italy, has been isolated at home since Wednesday, the BBC reported.

New Zealand so far has four confirmed cases of coronavirus; in Australia, 60 cases have been recorded and two elderly people have died.

New Zealand has extended its travel restrictions for people arriving from China and Iran, in an effort to contain the outbreak of the virus, Reuters reported.
