Less Democratic voters support impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump, according to a Hill-HarrisX poll released Thursday.

Sixty-seven percent said they support the proceedings, compared with 63% in May.

The poll follows special counsel Robert Mueller's testimony before Congress about his report on Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.

Among Republicans and Independents, support for impeachment proceedings rose, with 17% of GOP voters saying they would support an inquiry – an increase of 8 percentage points – and 35% of Independents saying the same – a 9-point surge.

Several of the senate's most influential women support proceedings against Trump, including Sens. Patty Murray, D-Wash., and Debbie Stabenow, D-Mich. Murray, the assistant Senate Democratic leader, said she had seen enough evidence to warrant impeachment proceedings.

"What we know from the Mueller report is deeply concerning and the president has been not responding to subpoenas and to requests for information," Sen. Murray said.

"So, to me, this is very concerning, and I think it's not just about this president, but it's about what bar we have presidents in the future about obstruction of justice," she told reporters on Capitol Hill on Monday evening.
