President Donald Trump's son Eric called the election results from Tuesday's primaries "awesome" for his father, pointing out that the results in states like Michigan and Washington were much higher than for the last incumbent, former President Barack Obama when he ran for re-election in 2012.

"My father had well over 600,000 votes (in Michigan)," Trump said on Fox News' "Fox and Friends." "Obama had 174,000 votes by comparison."

The votes are still coming in from Washington state, but the president already has 520,000 votes cast for him there, Trump said.

"No other person in the history of the state has ever gotten to those vote numbers," Trump said. "By comparison, Bernie Sanders right now who is leading the state is at 334,000, right, so my father is well over 500,000 with only 67% in. Hillary Clinton, by comparison, had 420,000."

He said he believes his father is getting so many votes in a virtually uncontested race is because people want the president to know they are on his side.

"Every single person was wearing a Trump shirt, wearing a Trump hat," the president's son said. "People don't like other candidates at all. People finally feel they have a voice again and they have been turning out in record numbers."

He also spoke out about a factory worker who found himself in a short argument with ex-Vice President Joe Biden after saying the candidate would take away his guns if elected.

"I don't know how you win," said Trump. "He called them AR-14s, another gaffe. How do you win when you're insulting and yelling at the very people that need to vote for you? My father would have gotten out of the car, ran up to them, given them a hug, taken a picture, given them a high five. This guy literally gets in a fight."
