Kallakurichi student suicide: Victim's father moves Madras HC for re-postmortem

Chennai: The father of the Plus Two student who committed suicide in a private residential school at Kallakurichi moved the Madras High Court on Sunday seeking a re-postmortem.

He alleged that injuries in the girl's body indicate that she had entered into a physical confrontation with someone.

Upon hearing the news on July 13, the girl's mother had rushed to the school and found blood stains on the wall of the hostel verandah, 10 feet away from where the body was found, the father said.

The petitioner accused the school authorities of trying to hush up the matter of a cognizable case and added that he was not even allowed to see his daughter's hostel room. The girl's father also complained that he was not allowed to interact with his daughter's roommates as well indicating some ulterior motives on the part of the school management.

The Madras High Court will hear the case on Monday.

Kallakurichi is tense after protesters pelted stones and bottles against the police demanding justice for the Class XII girl who had committed suicide. The protesters clashed with the police and later barged into the school compound and vandalised the school building and burnt several school buses and a police van and three jeeps.

Kallakurichi district collector P. N . Sridhar has declared a curfew under section 144 at Kallakurichi Taluk and in some areas of Chinna Salem taluk.
