CDS Chopper Crash: What we know so far: A Timeline

9 am: CDS Bipin Rawat along with his wife Madhulika Rawat and 8 other Army officers leave from Delhi

11 am: CDS arrives at the Sulur Air Force Station

11:30 am: CDS along with 13 others leave for Coonor in an IAF Mi17 chopper

12;20 pm: The chopper crashes near Upper Coonoor at 12.20, about 10 kms from the helipad it was to land.

Locals rushed to douse the fire and rescue with bare hands. Local authorities were immediately informed by the locals.

Eyewitnesses say the chopper first hit a tree before crashing on the ground and caught fire.

3 personnel were rescued alive from the crash site with severe burns.

13 of the 14 have been declared dead by the local authorities.

Indian Air Force Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari, TN CM MK Stalin have been rushed to the spot.

At 6:10, CDS Bipin Rawat declared dead by the Indian Air Force.

Emergency CCS meet scheduled to meet at PM's residence today at 6:30pm.
