India Records 2.47 Lakh New Covid Cases in Last 24 Hours

New Delhi: India reported 2,47,417 new Covid-19 infections on Thursday, 27.1 per cent higher than yesterday, according to data shared by the Union Health Ministry.

This brings the country’s cumulative caseload to 3,63,17,927. Of this, 5,488 cases were of the highly transmissible Omicron variant of coronavirus.

Total recoveries were at 3,47,15,361 across the country. A total of 84,825 patients recovered in the last 24 hours. The recovery rate is now at 95.59 per cent.

India's active caseload stands at 11,17,531. In the last 24 hours, active cases increased by 1,62,212. The daily positivity rate stood at 13.11 per cent while the weekly positivity rate was 10.80 per cent.

Among all the states, Maharashtra reported the highest Covid-19 cases at 46,723 cases, followed by Delhi with 27,561 cases, West Bengal with 22,155 cases, Karnataka with 21,390 cases and Tamil Nadu with 17,934 cases.
